When subjects are close to your heart

When subjects are close to your heart it feels easier to see their good side, to capture their great moment. But sometimes all that is just an illusion, they can be your harsh critiques, your most difficult subject and a true nightmare at the time you want to take "just this one shoot".

The difference between an acceptable photograph and an amazing one is often made not in camera or post-production but in your ability to connect with your subject. Where you place subjects within a photograph is called composition. Composition can drive the emotion, storytelling ability and technical success of a photo, but, because photography is an art, we all interpret and see things differently. And this personal approach angle becomes especially important when those subjects are people that leave a mark on your soul on a daily basis.

Because revealing private aspects of a person's life is always an act of emotion, I want to state that, in my opinion, in a relationship you need someone who's going to call you out not someone who's going to allow things to slide. You need somebody who doesn't want to live without you, but can. You need a challenging person especially concerning the only thing that you are passionate about: your photography. So getting that shot, catching that light and having them sincerely praise you on it, that is really rewarding!

I take pride on loving this man, on nurturing his needs and being his partner in our family and life. I'm eager to please his critical spirit and I take pride when I can capture on camera different sides and aspects of him, emotions I can relate like nowhen else, feelings I can almost relive with the blink of an eye, because that is what photography can accomplish in our life: the opportunity to relive our memories in a way that feels more vivid and realistic, that feeling like you’re transported back to that moment.

A photo can have a deeper meaning and tell thousand important stories. But the essence of photography is to treasure moments and share them with the world.
